The award was organised by Whitebridge Capital, a specialist corporate finance house focusing on high growth companies, as part of their conference to highlight successful strategies for business growth through effective mergers and acquisitions. Norkom acquired Digital Harbor in July this year for $36.5 million as a key part of its strategy to consolidate its leadership position and accelerate Norkom’s growth in the financial crime and compliance marketplace that’s expected to almost double in size to US$917million by 2010. Following the deal, Norkom’s client base now includes four of the world’s top 7 financial services institutions and more than 50 institutions in total. Digital Harbor brought a number of leading tier one financial services institutions into the Norkom fold, which already included HSBC, Credit Agricole, Rabobank, Bank of Montreal, DTCC and Western Union. Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Norkom COO Cecil Hayes said: “We’re delighted to receive this award. Digital Harbor’s solutions and domain expertise complement our own and by acquiring the business and successfully integrating it within our group, we are able to fast-track our business growth, increase our expertise, expand our client base and move ahead of our competitors.” Mark Fenelon, a director with Whitebridge Capital, said that “Norkom Technologies has experienced significant success over the last five years and with this acquisition it will drive the further development and success of the company. The Best Acquisition Award is reflective of where the Irish industry is now at – the industry has matured with companies such as Norkom competing globally and using acquisitions to consolidate their position. Norkom won out against intense competition from eight other companies that were vying for the award; reflective of the strategic impact that Digital Harbor will have on the business going forward.” |

Norkom received the award at the International Acquisitions Conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin earlier this week after being shortlisted along with eight other fast growing Irish companies.
