Technical Architect
The focus of this role is on the design and architecture of the products and Norkom solutions such that they exceed client expectation for the market and are significantly differentiated from our competitors The Senior Technical Architect is responsible for offering technical design leadership to the Product Development Group, providing input into the product steering committee and providing support where needed to the business development process for the design and implementation of Norkom's solutions into a client environment.
- Third level qualification in computer science, engineering, information engineering, statistics, mathematics, economics or equivalent related experience
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Technical Architect, ideally working in the financial sector.
- Knowledge of best practices analytical methodologies and tools, being a 'thought leader' within the organisation in identifying new architecture opportunities, tools and techniques.
- Analytical skills in defining technical architecture processes & collecting data requirements.
- Banking or Finance industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of technical architecture, data analysis, and analytical methods
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows / Office / Project for day-to-day work.
This is an exciting technology role within the product development department. You will provide technical design authority on Norkom's flagship product Alchemist™.
- Third level qualification in computer science, engineering, information engineering, Identify key technology trends and how they will impact the development and strategic direction of the Norkom Product suite.
- Provide technical design leadership and review of all business requirements, functional specifications, test plans, reports and other written documentation for new functionality within Alchemist™.
- Provide the technical direction in the form of a Product Roadmap; collating and integrating key functional requirements into the plan with due consideration for client and internal requirements; ensuring management support for the plan and working with Product Development on the execution of this plan.
- Facilitate translation of the Business Requirements into the appropriate technical architecture with supporting rationale and being able to communicate this with external clients and internal clients at all levels of the organization, as appropriate.
- Able to articulate and design how the Norkom solution will work in a given client environment.
- Work with our sales teams on supporting the business winning process.
- Support the Sales process and team by taking a lead role in architecting solutions, conducting planning workshops with Prospects and Clients; building and demonstrating product demos and Proof of concepts in a convincing manner to Clients; scoping the work, sizing the effort and assessing the risks on Client proposals.
- Develop Process and Data Flow Models, to be used for detailed design and testing purposes.
- Define and develop appropriate test data sets capable of emulating Norkom client environments for Quality Assurance tests.
- Use or assist in development Object Models, as appropriate.
- Actively perform knowledge transfer of all work products to Product Development staff as required.
- Assist QA staff in planning and conducting user acceptance testing.
- Assist PD designers in understanding the client perspective of the product Norkom develops.
- Assist in the development and delivery formal training courses for both internal and external audiences with regard to technical architecture.
- Provide technical sales support on analytical capabilities where required.
- Validate the design and direction of future analytical components within the Alchemist™ Analytical framework.
- Perform the Lead Architect role within the project team on major assignments. Recognise and reduce risks. Determine the Business Architecture from the strategic business direction.
- At least 6 years experience using technical architecture design and analysis and data modelling techniques in a commercial environment with strong project management background in a financial services environment working in an OLTP, data mining and data warehousing environments.
- Experience in systems analysis and design a distinct advantage.
- Understanding of the product of Business Intelligence and predicative modelling a distinct advantage.
- Experience in operating systems, hardware, storage and database technologies from vendors such as IBM, SUN, HP & EMC.
- You will have 6+ years' experience, gained within leading Product Development environments.
- You will have designed web oriented enterprise products.
- Experience using Java (Swing, JDBC/ODBC, , JDK 2.0, JNI), J2EE, .NET, CORBA, DCOM, and transactional oriented middleware such as MQ Series, C++, Relational Databases (pref Oracle), product servers such as tomcat, BEA, Websphere etc.
- Experience of integrating with legacy business systems and UML.
- Preferably, the individual would have had 5 years previous experience as Solutions Architect/ Senior Software developer within the Financial Services sector or within a software product company producing software for the Financial Services. Knowledge of, or experience in the Telecommunications, Insurance and/or retail financial services would also be advantageous.
- Proven experience of leading, writing and presenting technical design proposals as part of the business winning cycle.
